Meet the YCHS Brown & Gold Brigade Band
We are the YCHS Band, but we like to call ourselves the Brown & Gold Brigade. We first and foremost thank you for taking a look on our website, and we have high hopes that you’ll be joining our team!
Members:
If you have a heart and passion to learn, or already play a band instrument, we welcome you with open arms. Each section is equipped with a well-rounded, friendly section leader to help lead you to become a better musician. Our band members are not only musicians, but some of our members are on our , which helps the Band have a greater connection with YCHS and helps plan events like Food Fair and Band Camp to fully enhance your High School Band Experience.
Parade Review Competitions:
Our band does not only perform in school rallies and in Downtown Marysville Parades, but in Parade Review Competitions! These adjudicated events is what gives our band it’s trophies and it’s many meaningful memories. These events are in the grade-book, so they are mandatory to attend. Here are our chosen Comps for the 2018-2019 Season:
- Pitman High School (Turlock, CA), September 28 2019
- Del Oro High School (Loomis, CA) October 19 2019
- Vintage High School (Napa, CA) November 9 2019
Band Camp:
This is what band is most known for, and is the biggest event for our band every year. Why? Because it takes a lot of planning and it helps make our newcomers feel adjusted with their new family, learn marching basics, and enhances each member’s musicality all at the same time. This one week camp is free of charge and all we require that you bring is a water bottle, an open mind, and some sunscreen of course! Mark your calendars for 2019’s Band Camp for:

FAQs
FAQs
How can my child fulfill their A-G requirements while taking band?
- There’s two main ways that we know of right now is to either to select a Pre-Period PE during your child’s freshman and sophomore year so they can use their PE period during a normal school day as an elective period to take classes like German or Spanish. But, if your child would not like to take a pre-period, Yuba College offers free college classes to HS students that is equivalent to 2 years of a high school class and is also counted for college credits. Please contact your child’s counselor to make your decision!
Does Band interfere with sports?
- If a sporting event interferes with a band event, please see Mr.Z! We want to support our musicians and we strive to make sure you can fulfill your high school experience in your own way as much as possible.
